The Mausoleum of Mohammed V is a royal mausoleum in Rabat, Morocco, completed in 1971 and built to house the remains of King Mohammed V and members of the royal family.
The building is notable for its white marble walls, green-tiled pyramidal roof and finely worked zellige tilework and carved wood inside and out. The complex includes a ceremonial forecourt and a richly decorated mausoleum chamber containing the royal tombs; the exterior and forecourt are the main areas accessible to visitors.
Commissioned after Morocco’s independence, the mausoleum was constructed in the 1960s and finished in 1971 as a modern royal burial monument honoring Mohammed V. It was intended as a national memorial and has remained a site for royal interments and state commemorations.
The mausoleum sits in central Rabat immediately adjacent to the unfinished Hassan Tower and near the Kasbah of the Udayas on the city waterfront, forming part of the historic ceremonial complex in the capital.
