Masjid at-Taneem

Masjid at-Taneem is a mosque located in the Taneem neighborhood on the northern edge of Mecca in Mecca Province. It is widely used as a boundary point where people prepare to enter ihram for Umrah and Hajj.

The site functions primarily as a practical place to put on ihram and perform ablutions and prayers; pilgrims often stop here before returning to the Grand Mosque. It is a modern, modest mosque rather than a major tourist monument, and it can be crowded during peak pilgrimage times.

The location is associated in Islamic tradition with Aisha, the wife of the Prophet Muhammad, who is said to have entered ihram there for an Umrah. The mosque has been rebuilt and expanded over time to accommodate pilgrims, but the site’s ritual role is its principal historical significance.

Situated just outside the limits of the Grand Mosque precinct in Mecca, the mosque lies within the Taneem area and is reachable by road from central Mecca; it serves residents and pilgrims staying in the city.
