Masjid al-Namirah is a mosque on the plain of Arafat in Mecca Province, Saudi Arabia, associated with the pilgrimage rites of Hajj. It is one of the principal places where pilgrims assemble for prayers and sermons during the Hajj period.
During Hajj, very large numbers of pilgrims gather at the mosque area for the noon prayer and the sermon on the 9th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, known as the Day of Arafah. Outside of the Hajj period, the mosque sees far smaller numbers and serves the local pilgrim infrastructure.
The mosque occupies a site long associated with Arafat worship and pilgrimage rites; it has been rebuilt and expanded at various times to accommodate growing numbers of pilgrims under modern Saudi administration. The site’s significance is tied to its location on the plain of Arafat.
