How to Get to Masdar City

Masdar City is adjacent to Abu Dhabi city and is most easily reached via Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH). Taxis and airport shuttles are the most practical ways to get there; Abu Dhabi's public buses provide a cheaper option.

By Air

Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH): The main airport serving Abu Dhabi and Masdar City. Masdar City is a short drive from AUH-taxis take around 20-30 minutes depending on traffic; fares are typically in the AED 60-90 range.

Dubai International Airport (DXB): Dubai is an alternative arrival point for international visitors. Driving between Dubai and Masdar City takes roughly 1.5-2 hours by car depending on traffic; taxis and private transfers are common for this longer journey.

By Train & Bus

Bus: Abu Dhabi’s public bus network links the airport, Abu Dhabi city and Masdar City; routes and frequencies are published by the Department of Transport Abu Dhabi. Buses are an economical option though travel times are longer than taxis.

Shuttle / Hotel transfer: Many hotels and Masdar City organisations run shuttle services to/from the airport and Abu Dhabi city. These are convenient for business travellers and often timed to flights or conference schedules.

How to Get Around Masdar City #

Masdar City is designed for pedestrians within its compact core, and short internal trips are easy on foot. The personal rapid transit network was scaled back, so internal shuttles and walking are the main modes; many residents and workers use taxis or cars for travel beyond Masdar. For wider mobility you’ll typically travel to Abu Dhabi city center by taxi or bus; public bus links and taxi services connect Masdar with the rest of the emirate. Renting a car is common for visiting other parts of Abu Dhabi.
