Marpole is a residential neighbourhood in the city of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is one of Vancouver’s established south-side communities with a mixture of housing and commercial streets.

What you find

A mainly low-rise urban area with family housing, commercial strips and community facilities. There are neighbourhood shopping streets, restaurants and some older heritage homes interspersed with more recent development.

Growth occurred in the early 20th century as Vancouver expanded southward, shaped by transport corridors and local industry. The area has evolved from its earlier industrial and working-class character toward a more mixed residential and commercial neighbourhood.

Sited in southern Vancouver on the north bank of the Fraser River, immediately north of Sea Island and Vancouver International Airport and south of Vancouver’s central neighbourhoods.

  • Location tip: Lies on the north bank of the Fraser River immediately inland from Vancouver International Airport, giving easy road access to the airport and downtown Vancouver.
