Science World at TELUS World of Science is a science centre in Vancouver housed in a prominent geodesic dome originally built for Expo 86. The centre offers interactive exhibits, educational programmes and an OMNIMAX/IMAX-style theatre for science films.

Exhibition galleries focus on hands-on learning for children and families, covering topics from physical science to technology and the environment. The OMNIMAX theatre inside the dome screens large-format science and nature films that complement the hands-on galleries.

The facility dates to the mid-1980s Expo redevelopment and has since been adapted into a permanent science education venue with rotating exhibits and public programming. It operates as a regional centre for informal science education and outreach.

Sited at the eastern end of False Creek, the dome sits on the waterfront near the Main Street-Science World SkyTrain station and the False Creek seawall, making it easily reachable from downtown Vancouver.

Science World sits at the east end of False Creek in Vancouver, immediately beside Main Street-Science World SkyTrain station on the Expo Line. Exit the station and it’s a 2-5 minute walk across the plaza to the building.

It’s also reachable by several local bus routes that stop on Main Street and by walking or cycling from downtown Vancouver along the seawall; driving is possible but parking is limited.

• Arrive by SkyTrain (Main Street-Science World) rather than driving-parking is limited and public transit drops you within a short, level walk to the main entrance.
• Buy dome/IMAX-style show tickets ahead and check showtimes on arrival; planning your show first lets you explore interactive galleries around fixed presentation times and avoids waiting in separate queues.
• Visit on weekday afternoons/evenings if possible-family crowds are largest mid-morning and on weekends, so later visits let you use hands-on exhibits with fewer lines.
