Marausa is a small coastal village in Sicily, Italy, with a relaxed seaside feel on the western shore. A 16th-century Torre di Marausa still stands on the village beach, guarding the mouth of the Birgi river, and the area is known for sandy stretches like Marausa Beach.
Much of the appeal is the water and nearby islands. The Stagnone Islands sit in a shallow lagoon and are known as a kiteboarding spot, with views across low-lying shores toward the islands. Farther out, the Aegadian Islands form an archipelago off western Sicily with fishing villages, and they include Favignana, a Sicilian island in the Egadi archipelago famed for tuna.
For history nearby, Motya is an ancient Phoenician island-archaeological site off Sicily, while Segesta is an ancient Doric temple and archaeological site on a hilltop. In the city of Trapani, Trapani Cathedral adds a major landmark with its Baroque and Renaissance design.
