The Mansion House is the official residence and ceremonial workplace of the Lord Mayor of the City of London, completed in the mid-18th century. Designed by architect George Dance the Elder, construction finished around 1752.
Public access is limited but the building contains formal state rooms and reception spaces used for official banquets and civic events. Guided tours and open days allow visitors to see principal rooms, civic regalia, and artworks when available.
Commissioned by the City of London in the 18th century, the building replaced earlier mayoral lodgings and has been the Lord Mayor’s official residence since completion. It has hosted civic ceremonies and state receptions continuously and retains much of its 18th-century plan and decoration.
Sited in the ward of Walbrook in the City of London, the Mansion House sits close to Bank junction and the Bank of England in central London.
