Mannar Island is an island off the northwest coast of Sri Lanka in the Gulf of Mannar, administered from Mannar District. The island has a town of the same name and is linked to the Sri Lankan mainland by a short causeway and road.

How to Get to Mannar Island #
Mannar is reached by road and rail from northern Sri Lanka. By train, the reopened line from Medawachchiya (junction on the northbound mainline) terminates at Mannar; trains run several times weekly. By road, buses and private taxis connect Mannar to Mannar Bridge and to the A32 highway. The causeway linking the island to Mannar town is a short walk from the bus stand.
