Mandela National Stadium is Uganda’s main national stadium, located at Namboole just outside Kampala. It was built as a multi-purpose sports venue and is the home stadium for national football and athletics events.
The facility includes a full athletics track and extensive spectator stands, and it is used for international football matches, national ceremonies and large concerts. Its capacity is roughly 45,000 people.
The stadium was completed in the late 1990s and has since been the venue for major sporting fixtures and national gatherings. It has undergone periodic maintenance and upgrades to host international fixtures.
Mandela National Stadium stands in the Namboole area to the east of Kampala and is part of the metropolitan sporting complex outside the city centre.
