The Major Mining Sites of Wallonia are a group of former coal-mining complexes in the Wallonia region of Belgium that together document the evolution of mining technology and workers’ communities from the Industrial Revolution onward. The ensemble is recognized for its cultural and industrial-historical significance.

The sites reflect the rise, peak and decline of coal mining in Wallonia from the 18th century through the 19th and 20th centuries, a period that underpinned Belgium’s industrial development. Following mine closures, major conservation and interpretation efforts transformed several complexes into heritage museums and cultural venues.

The mining sites are distributed across the Wallonia region in southern Belgium, located in former coalfield areas and near historic industrial towns.
