Bath Travel Guide
City Shipbuilding city, home to historic shipyards
Shipyards and salt air shape Bath’s waterfront: Bath Iron Works, maritime museums and clapboard houses anchor the town. Visitors come for lobster shacks, harbor cruises on the Kennebec and walks along wharves that remember a long shipbuilding history.
Why Visit Bath? #
Bath is a magnet for maritime history enthusiasts and seafood lovers, centered on shipbuilding heritage like Bath Iron Works and the Maine Maritime Museum. Historic waterfront streets and shipyard views create a working harbor atmosphere, while lobster rolls and fresh-caught seafood feature in casual cafés and waterfront eateries. The small-city scale makes it easy to pair museum visits with harbor walks and nearby coastal drives.

How to Get to Bath
Homer is best reached by air via Homer Airport (HOM) or by flying into Anchorage (ANC) and taking a regional flight or a scenic drive down the Sterling Highway. There's no passenger rail, and ferries/water taxis serve nearby communities but not mainland Alaska connections.
Homer Airport (HOM): Homer Airport is the primary local airport with scheduled flights (including connections to Anchorage). The airport is about 5-10 minutes by road from downtown Homer; local taxi fares are typically around US$10-20.
Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC): For a larger range of flights fly into Anchorage (ANC) and connect to Homer either by a short regional flight (about 45-60 minutes) or by car - driving is roughly 4-5 hours along the Sterling Highway depending on conditions.
Train: There is no passenger rail service to Homer.
Bus / Ferry: Intercity bus options are limited; the Alaska Railroad does not serve Homer. Water taxis and ferry services connect Homer with nearby Seldovia and other coastal communities - these are practical for local sea access but not for mainland connections. For most travel to/from Homer, flights or driving are used.
