From Tel Aviv you can drive to Jerusalem on Highway 1 (roughly 60-70 km, about a 45-60 minute drive depending on traffic) and then park or take local buses/taxis into the city center.

• Go first thing in the morning to see produce, fish and spice stalls at their freshest and to avoid the busiest crowds; the market becomes much busier later in the day and especially on Thursdays/Fridays before Shabbat.
• Plan around Friday: avoid late-Friday shopping hours when the market is at its busiest as locals prepare for Shabbat, and note that many individual stalls and shops close early that day.
