The Magdalen Islands (Îles de la Madeleine) are reached either by air or by ferry. Regular flights operate to Îles‑de‑la‑Madeleine airport (Cap‑aux‑Meules) from larger Canadian cities such as Montreal and Québec City. Alternatively, in summer months a vehicle/passenger ferry runs from Souris, Prince Edward Island to Cap‑aux‑Meules; once on the islands local roads connect the communities and beaches.

• If you plan to bring a vehicle, reserve the seasonal ferry from Souris (PEI) to Cap‑aux‑Meules well in advance during summer - ferries are the main car link and fill up quickly in July-August.
• Cap‑aux‑Meules is the islands' main service hub, so base yourself there for groceries, rentals and excursions; inter-island boat trips and short drives/bike rides from Cap‑aux‑Meules give easy access to sand dunes, cliffs and the island communities.
• To avoid the heaviest crowds and get calmer seas for boat trips, visit midweek in shoulder-season windows (late spring or early fall) rather than peak summer weekends.
