How to Get to Magaluf#
Magaluf on Mallorca’s southwest coast is a short transfer from Palma Airport - reachable by public bus, private airport shuttle, taxi or rental car. Public buses are cheap and frequent in season; taxis and transfers are easier with luggage or late arrivals.
Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI): Palma Airport is the main gateway to Mallorca. From PMI you can reach Magaluf by bus, taxi or rental car: the direct EMT/TIB buses and private airport buses serve the southwest coast (journey time ~20-40 minutes depending on service and traffic). Taxis are faster (around 20-30 minutes) but cost more.
Other regional airports / ferries: Mallorca is also reached by ferry from the Spanish mainland (Barcelona, Valencia) into Palma; from Palma port take local transport or taxi to Magaluf.
Train: Mallorca has no island-wide rail network linking Palma to Magaluf; rail is not an option for this route.
Bus: TIB/EMT Mallorca operate bus routes between Palma and Magaluf (and the wider Calvià area); journey times are typically 20-40 minutes and fares are inexpensive (single-ride ticketing). Seasonal private airport shuttles also run directly to Magaluf hotels and resorts - check providers for schedules and prices.
How to Get Around Magaluf#
Magaluf is a short transfer from Palma Airport. Public buses and private shuttles are the budget and mid-range options; taxis and rental cars are best if you value speed and flexibility.
- Public bus (TIB / EMT) (EUR 2-6) - Public buses from Palma to Magaluf are regular, economical and suitable for most travellers. Timetables expand in summer; check TIB/EMT Mallorca for current routes and times.
- Airport shuttle / private transfer (EUR 8-20) - Private shuttles and coach transfers run directly from Palma Airport to many Magaluf hotels - often prebooked and convenient for groups or late flights. Prices vary by operator but are competitive for door-to-door service.
- Taxi (EUR 25-40) - Taxis are the fastest way from Palma Airport to Magaluf and useful if you arrive late at night. Expect higher cost than the bus but a direct ride to your accommodation.
- Car rental (EUR 30+/day) - Renting a car is useful if you plan to explore Mallorca beyond Magaluf. Car parks can be busy in high season; plan ahead for parking at busy beaches and attractions.
- Walking - Magaluf’s resort area is compact and highly walkable for beaches, bars and restaurants; walking is the main way to move around once you’re in the resort centre.
