How to Get to Maardu

Maardu is best reached via nearby Tallinn - Tallinn Airport (TLL) and Tallinn's main stations (Balti jaam and the central bus station) are the arrival points. From Tallinn you can continue to Maardu by regional bus or taxi in under an hour.

By Air

Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport (TLL): Tallinn Airport is the closest major airport for Maardu (about 10-20 km). From TLL take the city bus (line 2) or shuttle into central Tallinn (single ticket typically around €2; 15-25 minutes) and then transfer to regional buses toward Maardu from Tallinn Bus Station/Balti jaam (see next card). A taxi from the airport to Maardu costs roughly €25-35 and takes about 20-30 minutes depending on traffic.

By Train & Bus

Train: There is no direct national rail service to Maardu; the nearest major rail hub is Tallinn Balti jaam, served by Elron commuter and regional trains across Estonia. From Balti jaam you continue to Maardu by bus or taxi (train fares to Tallinn vary by route; short commuter rides inside Estonia are typically a few euros).

Bus: Regular regional and municipal buses run between Tallinn and Maardu from Tallinn Bus Station (Autobussijaam) or stops near Balti jaam. Journey time is typically 25-40 minutes depending on route and traffic; expect pay roughly €2-€4 for a single trip on inter-city or Tallinn region services. Taxis and ride-hailing from Tallinn give a door-to-door option in ~20-30 minutes for ~€25-35.

How to Get Around Maardu #

Maardu is a compact industrial town that’s easy to cover on foot for most visits; the centre and lakeside areas are walkable.
