Luxor Museum

Luxor Museum is a purpose-built archaeological museum in the city of Luxor that displays artifacts excavated in the Theban area, including statuary, reliefs and funerary objects. The museum presents objects from surrounding tombs and temples with an emphasis on conservation and clear, chronological displays.

Galleries are arranged to show a sequence of Theban history and include well-preserved stone sculpture, coffins and funerary material from excavations of nearby sites. The layout is relatively compact compared with larger national museums, with climate-controlled halls and informative labels.

The museum opened in the 1970s to house and interpret finds from the Theban necropolis and surrounding temples, and it has been used to complement on-site archaeology and conservation work. Since opening it has functioned as a local archaeological museum focused on Luxor’s ancient remains.

It is located on the Nile Corniche in Luxor, close to Luxor Temple and the riverfront.
