Luxor Las Vegas is a pyramid‑shaped hotel and casino resort on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, opened in 1993. It is notable for its distinctive glass‑sided pyramid form and Egypt‑themed exterior elements.
The resort combines a large casino floor with hotel accommodation, restaurants, entertainment venues and the characteristic lobby atrium contained within the pyramid. The property features a full‑scale Sphinx replica at the main entrance and an intense vertical light beam projecting from the pyramid apex.
Developed as a major Strip resort, the complex has been altered and expanded since opening to add new entertainment and dining facilities while keeping the pyramid and Sphinx as signature elements. The resort is a landmark on the southern portion of the Las Vegas Strip and is used for both gaming and large‑scale visitor accommodation.
Luxor sits on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, among a cluster of large resorts and is directly visible from the Strip roadway and pedestrian areas.

- Luxor Sky Beam: the intense vertical light beam that projects from the pyramid apex and is visible across the Las Vegas valley at night.
How to Get to Luxor Las Vegas #
Luxor Las Vegas sits on the south end of the Las Vegas Strip on Las Vegas Boulevard South at the Tropicana Avenue area. From Harry Reid International Airport it’s a short drive (about 5-10 minutes, roughly 3-5 miles) north on Las Vegas Boulevard; taxis, rideshares and hotel shuttles are common. The Strip’s RTC buses (including the popular Deuce/SDX services) stop nearby; the Las Vegas Monorail’s southern terminus is at MGM Grand, roughly a 10-20 minute walk north of Luxor.
Tips for Visiting Luxor Las Vegas #
- See the Luxor's distinctive sky beam after dark-the beam is much more impressive from the Strip at night, so schedule a visit in the evening if you want the full pyramid-light experience.
- Use the main Las Vegas Boulevard/pyramid lobby entrance to enter quickly from the Strip and ride the slanted 'pyramid' elevators up the atrium for the unique interior experience; they provide a different perspective of the hotel layout than standard tower elevators.
- If you prefer a quieter casino and shorter queues, visit on weekday mornings or early afternoons rather than weekend evenings when the hotel and attractions are busiest.
Best Time to Visit Luxor Las Vegas #
Visit in cooler months (roughly October-April) to avoid extreme desert heat and to walk the Strip comfortably; expect high crowds on weekends and during big events.
