Lützelau Island

Lützelau is a small island in the Obersee section of Lake Zürich, located near the Rapperswil-Jona area in the canton of Schwyz. The island is largely wooded and used for leisure activities by boaters and day visitors.

There are traces of medieval use recorded in historical sources and occasional archaeological finds, but the island has no permanent population and no large built facilities for tourists. Visitors approach Lützelau from nearby lakeshore towns or private vessels.

The island sits in the eastern section of Lake Zürich and is part of the lake’s cluster of small islands, close to the lakeshore communities around Rapperswil and well within commuting distance of Zürich.
