Luštica is a peninsula in southwestern Montenegro that forms part of the coastline at the entrance to the Bay of Kotor. The peninsula is characterized by rocky hills, olive groves, small coastal villages and a number of pebble and sandy bays.
Visitors use Luštica for seaside recreation, short coastal hikes and to visit local villages and beaches; the peninsula’s roads provide views across the bay toward Herceg Novi, Tivat and the inner Boka Kotorska. There are also remnants of Austro-Hungarian coastal fortifications visible in places.
Historically the peninsula’s strategic position at the bay entrance led to military uses and fortifications in the 19th and 20th centuries, while villages maintained fishing and olive-growing economies. In recent decades parts of the coastline have seen tourism development alongside traditional activities.
Luštica lies to the south of Herceg Novi and west of Tivat, forming the outer edge of the Bay of Kotor and projecting into the Adriatic Sea; it is reached by road from nearby coastal towns and by boat from bayside harbours.
