Lumpinee Boxing Stadium
Stadium Iconic Bangkok stadium for professional Muay Thai
Bangkok’s Lumpinee Boxing Stadium hosts professional Muay Thai bouts and daily fight cards; tourists and fighters attend for live matches, the stadium atmosphere and nearby training camps.
Lumpinee Boxing Stadium is Thailand’s principal Muay Thai venue, originally established in the mid-20th century. It is one of the country’s most important rings for professional Muay Thai competition.
The stadium stages multiple professional fight cards each week, featuring local and international fighters in full Muay Thai rules. Seating ranges from ringside tables to tiered stands and events include ranked bouts and national championship fights.
The original Lumpinee Stadium opened in 1956 under the auspices of Thai authorities and became a national centre for Muay Thai. The Rama IV site closed in 2014 and the promotion moved to a new purpose-built stadium in the Ram Intra area later that year.
The current Lumpinee complex is in the Ram Intra/Ramintra district in the northeastern suburbs of Bangkok; the original stadium stood on Rama IV Road in central Bangkok.
- Fight nights: Regular fight cards are held on multiple nights each week, featuring ranked bouts and championship contests across Thai weight classes.
- Promotional role: Run historically by the Royal Thai Army with a central role in professional Muay Thai matchmaking and title belts in Thailand.
What to See #
- Old Lumpinee Stadium (Rama IV): The original stadium opened in 1956 on Rama IV Road and operated there until 2014, when it closed and the promotion relocated.
- New Lumpinee Stadium (Ramintra): Reopened in a new complex in the Ram Intra/Ramintra area of northeastern Bangkok in 2014; hosts professional Muay Thai cards, gyms, and training facilities.
Tips for Visiting Lumpinee Boxing Stadium #
- Book tickets in advance for an evening fight night and arrive early to watch the undercard - seats close to the ring sell out and arriving early secures better views of the full card.
- Buy tickets from the official stadium box office or reputable vendors and confirm which stadium you're going to (the original Lumpinee on Rama IV was replaced by the newer Lumpinee complex on Ramintra); this avoids being dropped at the wrong site by taxis or ride-hailing drivers.
- Expect a tiered seating layout with ringside and loft sections; if you want commentary in English or a more tourist-friendly experience, check whether the event offers translated announcements or consider joining a guided Muay Thai night package.
Best Time to Visit Lumpinee Boxing Stadium #
