How to Get to Los Gigantes#
Los Gigantes on Tenerife’s west coast is best reached via Tenerife South (TFS) or Tenerife North (TFN) airports and continued by car, taxi or TITSA bus. A rental car or private transfer gives the most direct and time-efficient access; public buses are cheaper but involve transfers.
Tenerife South-Reina Sofía (TFS): Tenerife South is the nearest airport for Los Gigantes (about 40-50 minutes by road). From TFS you can take a taxi (~35-45 minutes) or a public TITSA bus plus a local connection; airport transfers and shared shuttles are also common. Taxis are quicker; shared transfers and private transfers are widely available.
Tenerife North-Los Rodeos (TFN): TFN is further (about 1-1.5 hours by road) and typically used when flying into the north. From TFN you can reach Los Gigantes by road via the TF-5 and TF-1 highways, using a rental car, taxi or interurban bus services operated by TITSA (longer journey than from TFS).
Train: There is no train network on Tenerife.
Bus: TITSA operates buses across Tenerife. From Puerto de la Cruz or Costa Adeje you can connect to services heading toward Santiago del Teide/Los Gigantes-journeys from southern tourist hubs take about 1-1.5 hours depending on route and transfers. Bus is cheap and reliable but slower than driving.
How to Get Around Los Gigantes#
Los Gigantes is reached most conveniently from Tenerife South airport by taxi or rental car; TITSA buses are the economical alternative. On arrival, walking and local boats are the main ways to enjoy the immediate area.
- Taxi/airport transfer (€40-70 (approx.)) - Taxis from Tenerife South deliver door-to-door to Los Gigantes in around 35-45 minutes depending on traffic. Private shared or private airport transfers are widely available and convenient for groups with luggage.
- TITSA bus (€3-10) - TITSA operates frequent interurban buses linking the main resorts and towns. Buses are inexpensive and cover Los Gigantes from nearby hubs; expect journey times of about 60-90 minutes from southern areas depending on route.
- Car rental (€20+/day) - Hiring a car is the most flexible way to explore the west coast, Los Gigantes and surrounding attractions. Roads are good but can be steep and narrow near cliffs-drive carefully and watch for parking limits in high season.
- Boat excursions (€20-60 (trip dependent)) - Boat trips from Los Gigantes harbour are a popular way to see the cliffs and spot whales/dolphins. Excursions vary in length and style; they depart frequently during tourist season and are a highlight of visiting the town.
- Local taxi (€5-20) - Local taxis handle short transfers around Los Gigantes and to nearby beaches and viewpoints; useful for late returns or short hops when buses are infrequent.
- Walking - The town and cliff viewpoints are compact and easily explored on foot; walking along the seafront and viewing platforms is the best way to enjoy the scenery around Los Gigantes.
