About Loring Park#
Loring Park is a public urban park in the Loring Park neighborhood immediately west of downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. It functions as one of the city’s principal downtown green spaces.
The park offers lawns, walking paths, a small pond, specimen trees and open lawns used for recreation and festivals. Several large public events and community gatherings use the park’s open areas, and visitors also come for informal recreation and city skyline views.
Created as part of Minneapolis’s late 19th- and early 20th-century park development, the park and surrounding neighborhood evolved as a mixed residential and cultural district. Over time the park has been adapted to host events and public art while retaining landscaped areas.
Loring Park sits adjacent to the downtown Minneapolis grid and the Loring Park neighborhood, within easy walking distance of the central business district and cultural institutions to the east and south.
