London Zoo

London Zoo in Regent’s Park is a major zoological collection managed by the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) and one of the earliest scientific zoos, founded in 1828.

Established as a scientific collection in the early 19th century, the zoo opened to the public later in the century and has evolved through conservation-focused modernisation of its enclosures and programmes. Over its long history it has hosted important zoological research and captive-breeding efforts.

Located on the northern side of Regent’s Park in central London, the zoo is accessible by several London Underground stations and by surface transport across the city.

• Gorilla Kingdom: Gorilla Kingdom is a modern primate exhibit designed to give visitors close views of western lowland gorillas and related species in landscaped enclosures.
• Penguin Beach and Tiger Territory: Penguin Beach and Tiger Territory are among the specialized enclosures that combine visitor viewing platforms with habitat-focused design for the species on display.
