Livadia Palace

Livadia Palace is an early 20th century former imperial residence located near Yalta on the Crimean coast, built as a summer retreat for the Russian imperial family. It is best known internationally as the site of the 1945 Yalta Conference.

Visitors typically see the palace’s principal state rooms and the halls associated with the 1945 meeting of Allied leaders, along with a small museum display about the building’s history. The exterior and surrounding park terraces are also part of the visitor route.

The palace was designed and built for the Romanov family in the early 20th century, with construction completed shortly before World War I; architect Nikolay Krasnov was responsible for the design. The complex passed through imperial, Soviet and post-Soviet uses, and its association with the Yalta Conference gives it special historical significance.

Livadia Palace is located in the settlement of Livadiya, a few kilometres east of Yalta on the southern Crimean coast, set on coastal slopes with sea views and formal gardens.
