Lisht is an archaeological site and ancient royal necropolis in Giza Governorate, Egypt, notable for its Middle Kingdom pyramids. The site contains the pyramids and funerary complexes of 12th Dynasty pharaohs.
The principal visible remains are two major pyramid complexes attributed to Amenemhat I and Senusret I, together with associated burial cemeteries and ruins of chapel and causeway architecture. The site is less visited than Giza’s Fourth Dynasty monuments but is important for Middle Kingdom archaeology.
Lisht served as a royal burial site during Egypt’s 12th Dynasty in the early second millennium BCE, when pharaohs of that dynasty built pyramids and mortuary complexes there. Excavations have revealed tombs, coffins and funerary goods connected to Middle Kingdom burial practices.
The site lies in Giza Governorate on the west bank of the Nile in Lower Egypt, near the modern village of el-Lisht.

Lisht lies roughly 50 km south of central Cairo. Travelers usually reach the site by private car or organized tour from Cairo; the drive is about 1-1.5 hours via the Cairo-Faiyum road. The nearest sizable town is El-Lisht; hire a local driver or guide to arrange access to the archaeological areas.
