Le Brévent

Le Brévent is a mountain in the Aiguilles Rouges massif above Chamonix in Haute-Savoie, France, with a summit at 2,525 metres. It is one of the main viewpoints across the Chamonix valley toward the Mont Blanc massif.

The site is valued for panoramic views of Mont Blanc, the Aiguille Verte and the Mer de Glace; the summit ridge and viewing platforms provide direct photographic vantage points. A cable car from Chamonix gives rapid access to high-elevation trails and viewpoints, making it popular for day visits in summer and shoulder seasons.

Many hikers use the ridges for multi-hour routes into the Aiguilles Rouges, and the summit area is also used for paragliding launches and alpine ski touring in winter. Trails vary from short walks from the cable car stations to longer mountain routes linking to neighboring cols and summits.

The peak is a natural feature of the Aiguilles Rouges massif; alpine infrastructure such as the cable car and marked trails were installed during the 20th century to support tourism and mountain sports. The area has been managed for recreation and conservation since those developments.

The mountain sits immediately above the town of Chamonix in the Mont Blanc valley of Haute-Savoie. The main access is from Chamonix town centre by cable car and mountain path.
