Larvotto
Area Urban beach district in Monaco with rocky shoreline
A central Monaco waterfront district centered on Larvotto Beach and its promenade; visitors swim, dive in the marine reserve, stroll seafront avenues and dine in nearby cafés.
Larvotto is a coastal district and beach area in the eastern part of Monaco, facing the Mediterranean Sea. It functions as Monaco’s main public beach and urban recreational coastline.
The shoreline here is developed with promenades, beach access and adjacent municipal facilities rather than natural, undeveloped coastline. The district sits next to cultural and conference venues and is integrated into Monaco’s compact urban layout.
The beachfront and district grew with Monaco’s 20th-century urban expansion along the coast, incorporating engineered beaches and sea defenses to create usable seaside space. The area is maintained by municipal authorities and used year-round for promenading and seasonal bathing.
Larvotto lies on Monaco’s eastern waterfront, immediately east of Monte Carlo and adjacent to the Grimaldi Forum conference centre.
- Main beach district: This is Monaco's principal public seaside area on the eastern side of the principality, close to major conference and cultural venues and served by urban transport links.
