Lake Upemba is a lake within the Upemba Depression in southeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, lying inside Upemba National Park. The lake is part of an extensive mosaic of shallow lakes, marshes and river channels that characterise the park.
The wetland complex is important for fishing, seasonal waterfowl and other wildlife and is used by local communities for subsistence fishing and reed harvesting. Management of the broader park affects access and fisheries, and the area is noted for its ecological importance rather than developed tourism.
Geographically the lake sits within Upemba National Park in Haut-Lomami province in the southeastern DRC, in a lowland depression fed by regional rivers and seasonally fluctuating water flows.
