Lake Tumba is a shallow tropical lake in the western Democratic Republic of the Congo, situated within the Congo Basin. It is ecologically important as part of regional wetlands and floodplain systems.

The lake has long been integral to local economies and cultures, providing fish and transport routes for communities in the region. Conservation and resource-use discussions have increasingly recognised the importance of the lake within the Congo Basin.

Lake Tumba lies in the western part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the area formerly administered as Équateur province, within the lowland rainforest and floodplain landscape of the Congo Basin.

  • Wetland and fisheries: Part of the greater Congo Basin wetland system, the lake and its seasonal floodplains are important for fisheries and local livelihoods.
