Lake Toplitz (Toplitzsee) is a mountain lake in the Austrian Alps, located in the Salzkammergut region of Styria. The lake occupies a steep-sided basin and is noted in modern times for historical wartime associations.

Boat access and guided visits are the main ways visitors reach the lake; the shoreline is largely natural mountain terrain with limited development. The lake’s depth and cold, stratified waters have been the subject of dives and investigations.

Toplitzsee sits amid steep forested mountains; in the mid-20th century it attracted attention for alleged caches and artifacts associated with World War II, which led to dives and searches in the decades after the war.

The lake is located in Styria’s Salzkammergut area, in alpine terrain accessible from nearby towns in the Styrian lake district.
