Lake Eyasi is a shallow rift-valley lake in northern Tanzania, situated in the Great Rift Valley south of Lake Manyara. It lies in a semi-arid basin and supports seasonal waterbird populations and wetlands when inflows are sufficient.
The area around the lake is traditionally inhabited by hunter-gatherer and pastoralist groups, and the shoreline communities maintain distinct cultural practices. The lake and its environs are used for seasonal grazing, small-scale agriculture and traditional livelihoods rather than intensive tourism.
Lake Eyasi occupies a low-lying basin in the Rift Valley floor and is located west of the Ngorongoro Highlands and south of Lake Manyara. The lake is accessed via roads from nearby towns and is part of the broader northern Tanzanian landscape.
