Lake Bogoria is an alkaline lake in Kenya’s Rift Valley known for hot springs, geysers and concentrations of flamingos. It lies within a protected area that conserves both geothermal features and bird habitats.
Scattered hot springs and geysers occur along the shore and create fumaroles, mineral deposits and small pools that attract visitors for close viewing and photography. Flamingos and other waterbirds use the shallow alkaline waters for feeding where conditions permit.
