Lake Balinsasayao
Lake Twin crater lakes in Negros Oriental's forested caldera
Part of the Twin Lakes Natural Park in Central Visayas, visited for kayaking, hiking rim trails and watching endemic bird species.
Lake Balinsasayao is one of two adjacent crater lakes on Negros Island in the central Philippines, collectively known as the Balinsasayao Twin Lakes. The pair are set within a protected natural park in an upland forested area.
Visitors use viewpoints and short hiking trails to look down on the lake basins, and boat trips are operated on the larger lake for close-up views of the water and surrounding forest. The twin-lake setting offers compact trekking, wildlife observation and scenic overlooks.
The lakes occupy volcanic or crater-related basins and have been managed as a protected area to conserve their upland forest, freshwater ecosystems and watershed functions. Local communities historically used the area for limited resource use and access routes through the uplands.
The twin lakes lie inland on Negros Island in the central Philippines within an elevated forested region of Negros Oriental, reachable from coastal towns by mountain roads.
