At the northern tip of Lake Como, Lago di Mezzola feeds into the Pian di Spagna wetlands; visitors kayak, birdwatch and use ferry connections to surrounding alpine trails.
Lago di Mezzola is a small lake in Lombardy, Italy, located immediately north of Lake Como. It occupies the lower valley of the River Mera and forms part of a linked wetland area important for birds.
The adjoining Pian di Spagna wetland area forms a natural corridor between Lago di Mezzola and Lake Como and is a noted site for birdwatching and wetland habitat. Recreational boating and fishing take place on the lake at designated access points.
Historically the lake and surrounding wetlands have been shaped by river flows and sedimentation; local conservation efforts focus on preserving the Pian di Spagna reserve and its habitats.
The lake sits just north of the northern arm of Lake Como in the province of Sondrio/Como area of Lombardy, with road access from towns along the lakes and valley routes.
