Lagdo Reservoir
Reservoir Large Cameroonian reservoir created by hydroelectric dam

The Lagdo Reservoir is a man-made lake in Cameroon’s North Region created by the Lagdo Dam on the Benue River. It serves as a regional water-resource feature for irrigation and local fisheries.
The reservoir’s shoreline and open water attract local fishing activity and boats, and the surrounding landscape is agricultural and riverine. Recreational visitation by international tourists is limited; the site is primarily of local economic and environmental importance.
The reservoir was created following construction of the Lagdo Dam in the late 20th century; the impoundment altered river flows and established the present lake. Since filling, the reservoir has been used for irrigation, flood control and fisheries by surrounding communities.
The reservoir lies in northern Cameroon on the Benue River, within the country’s North Region; the nearest settlements include the town of Lagdo and other local communities along the reservoir’s shores.
