La Gamba is a small village in the Puntarenas Province of southern Costa Rica. It lies near lowland rainforest and coastal ecosystems at the edge of Golfo Dulce.
The settlement functions as a base for nature tourism and field research activities tied to nearby protected forests and marine areas; local lodges and guides operate from the village to access trails and wildlife-rich habitats. Birdwatching and rainforest walks are among common activities.
The village grew in association with the regional agricultural and timber economy, later gaining a role in ecotourism due to its proximity to protected areas.
