La Corona is an archaeological Maya site in the Petén Department of northern Guatemala, located at roughly 17.5197°N, 90.3722°W. It preserves archaeological remains dating to the Classic period of Maya history.
The site comprises plazas and monumental architecture typical of Classic Maya urban centres, and it has yielded inscribed monuments and other finds that have contributed to understanding regional political relationships during the Classic era. Archaeological fieldwork and study have taken place at the site in the 21st century.
La Corona was constructed and occupied by the Maya during the Classic period (approximately 3rd to 9th centuries CE) and functioned as a local political centre within the network of Maya city-states. Research at the site has focused on its architecture, inscriptions and material culture.
