The tomb contains the characteristic layout of vertical shafts and inner burial chambers carved into limestone; such tombs vary in decoration and size but are generally compact. Public access to specific KV tombs is limited and governed by conservation concerns, so openings to visitors can be intermittent.
Created during Egypt’s New Kingdom era as a burial site for a royal or elite individual, the tomb has been subject to ancient disturbances, later archaeological clearance, and preservation work common to Theban tombs.
Located within the Valley of the Kings on the west bank of the Nile opposite modern Luxor, the tomb is among the line of rock-cut burial sites set into the valley hills roughly 4-6 kilometers from Luxor city.
How to Get to KV47 #
KV47 is part of the Valley of the Kings complex on Luxor’s West Bank. There is no single regular numbered bus that serves the tombs directly.
Once at the Valley’s entrance expect a walk on uneven terrain of several minutes up to around 15-20 minutes from the ticket area to the tombs depending on which are open to visitors.
