The Kouebokkeveld Mountains are a mountain range in South Africa’s Western Cape, forming a highland area and plateau north of the Ceres valley. The range is part of the broader Cape Fold geological structures and is locally important for upland farming and scenic landscapes.
The area is characterized by a high plateau and surrounding ridges with agricultural activity on gentler slopes and natural shrubland on steeper ground. Outdoor activities in the wider region include scenic drives and rural hiking where public access exists.
Geologically the range is associated with the Cape Fold Belt that shapes much of the Western Cape’s mountain topography. The mountains lie inland within the Western Cape province, north of the town of Ceres and inland from the coastal plain.
- Climate: Winters are markedly colder here than on the coastal plain, with frequent frost and occasional snow at higher elevations.
