Exploring Khlong Lan National Park#
Khlong Lan is one of Thailand’s less-visited national parks, but its rugged terrain and lush vegetation make it a fine spot for a wilderness experience. The main attraction is Khlong Lan Waterfall, which tumbles about 100 metres down a mountainside in dramatic fashion and is one of the most photogenic falls in the country.
Several other falls and viewpoints are also worth visiting, and if you are lucky you may spot wild pigs or barking deer, as well as macaques and squirrels, as you stroll along the nature trails. There are bungalows beside park headquarters that you can rent for the night, along with a campsite and a grocery store.
Tips for Visiting Khlong Lan National Park#
- Arrive early in the morning to see Khlong Lan Waterfall at its clearest light and to avoid the mid-day heat and weekend visitors that crowd the main falls.
- Enter via the park headquarters/entrance near Khlong Lan Waterfall off the local highway (the waterfall is the park's primary access point) and ask at the ranger station for the best short trails - they will direct you to the main falls and nearby cascades.
- Visit during or just after the rainy season for maximum waterfall flow, but be prepared for muddy or slippery access tracks and occasional temporary closures; conversely the dry season gives easier access to upstream pools and short walks that many overlook.
Best Time to Visit Khlong Lan National Park#
