How to Get to Khemisset#
Khemisset is typically reached via Rabat-Salé airport or by road from Rabat or Meknes. The town is primarily connected by bus and grand-taxi services; rail travellers disembark at Rabat or Meknes and continue by road.
Rabat-Salé Airport (RBA): The nearest airport to Khemisset is Rabat-Salé (RBA), about 50-80 km away depending on route; road transfer is roughly 50-80 minutes by taxi. Taxis/private transfers from RBA to Khemisset typically cost MAD 200-400; shared options or trains/buses via Rabat are cheaper alternatives.
Casablanca Mohammed V (CMN): Casablanca is another major international gateway (approx. 1.5-2 hours by road); from there you can continue by ONCF train to Rabat or by long-distance bus and then local transport to Khemisset.
Train: Khemisset is not directly on Morocco’s main ONCF high-speed/long-distance rail corridor. Travelers typically take a train to Rabat or Meknes and then a bus or grand taxi for the onward leg to Khemisset.
Bus / Grand-taxi: CTM and local bus operators serve routes between Rabat, Khemisset and Meknes. Grand-taxis (shared or private) are a common and flexible way to travel; expect fares roughly MAD 20-80 for regional trips (shared) and higher for private hires.
How to Get Around Khemisset#
Expect to travel to Khemisset by bus or grand-taxi from Rabat or Meknes, or by private transfer from Rabat-Salé airport. For rail travellers, combine a train to a hub city and a road transfer to reach Khemisset.
- Intercity bus (CTM / local operators) (MAD 20-80) - Regional buses run between Rabat, Meknes and Khemisset; CTM offers comfortable, air-conditioned coaches on major routes while local operators provide more frequent but basic services. Buses are the most economical and reliable public option.
- Grand-taxi (shared/private) (MAD 20-200) - Grand-taxis are widely used for villages and towns not well served by rail. Shared grand-taxis are inexpensive and depart when full; private hires offer direct service and can be negotiated for a fixed rate.
- Taxi / Private transfer (MAD 150-400) - Private taxis from Rabat or Rabat-Salé Airport are the quickest and most comfortable way to reach Khemisset. Agree a price beforehand or use hotel-arranged transfers to avoid haggling.
- Train (via Rabat / Meknes) (MAD 20-150 (combined journey)) - Although Khemisset lacks a major ONCF station, trains to Rabat or Meknes serve as useful hubs; from those cities take a bus or grand-taxi for the onward leg. This combined approach is common for visitors relying on rail.
- Walking - Khemisset’s central district is compact and walkable for markets and local services; walking is the easiest way to explore the town centre.

Shopping in Khemisset#
