Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad (HYD): The nearest major international airport serving Khammam district. From HYD you can take a taxi (≈3-4 hours drive to Khammam, fares vary widely ≈INR 3,000-6,000) or a combination of train/bus (see below).
Vijayawada Airport (VGA) / Vijayawada Junction by rail: Vijayawada is a regional hub; it’s about 2-3 hours by road to Khammam and can be a useful alternative if flight schedules to Hyderabad are inconvenient.
Train: Khammam has its own railway station (Khammam Railway Station, code KMT) on the Secunderabad-Vijayawada line with frequent long-distance and regional services. Trains from Hyderabad (Secunderabad/Hyderabad stations) take about 3-4 hours; fares depend on class (sleeper/AC) but are generally affordable.
Bus: Regular state-run and private buses run to Khammam from Hyderabad, Vijayawada and other nearby cities. Journey times and prices vary by service type; standard non-AC buses are the cheapest, while AC Volvo coaches cost more.
