About Kent Falls State Park

A Connecticut state park in the town of Kent that protects a steep series of waterfalls along Falls Brook. The falls are a local scenic landmark and a frequent stop for sightseeing and picnicking.

A network of paved paths, stone stairways and wooden viewing platforms that run beside the cascade and lead to multiple overlooks. Picnic areas and short woodland trails provide additional recreation opportunities beyond the immediate falls.

Set aside as a state-managed recreation and conservation area to protect the waterfall and surrounding woodland; administration and improvements have focused on trail and viewpoint construction to support public access.

Located in Litchfield County in northwestern Connecticut, within the town of Kent and accessible from the town center and nearby state routes.

How to Get to Kent Falls State Park

From Kent village follow US-7 to CT-341; the park entrance is signed and a small parking area serves the trails and overlooks. The main trail to the falls is well-marked and short (under a mile round trip from the lot).

Tips for Visiting Kent Falls State Park

  • Arrive before late morning to secure viewpoint parking - the falls are visible from the main trail and the upper overlook.
  • Bring a camera with a neutral density filter or use a slow-shutter setting to capture the layered cascades.
  • On wet days the steps and wooden viewing platforms can be slippery; use caution.
