How to Get to Kaş#
Kaş is a road-accessible coastal town; the nearest airports are Dalaman (DLM) and Antalya (AYT). The common approach is a coach or shuttle from those airports followed by local dolmuş or taxi for short legs within the district.
Dalaman Airport (DLM): Dalaman is a common gateway for the southwestern Turkish coast. From DLM you can get to Kaş by shuttle, private transfer or a combination of bus and dolmuş; travel time is typically 2.5-4 hours depending on stops and traffic. Typical transfer prices range from ~100-300 TRY for shared shuttles or about the same to higher for private transfers.
Antalya Airport (AYT): Antalya is the larger airport serving the Antalya Province. From Antalya Airport you can take an intercity coach from Antalya Otogar or a private transfer toward Kaş; road travel time is usually 3.5-4.5 hours. Intercity coach fares vary but commonly fall in the ~60-200 TRY range depending on operator and season.
Train: There is no direct national rail service to Kaş - the town is served by road only; Turkey’s coastal passenger rail network does not extend to this stretch of the Antalya coast.
Bus: Intercity bus companies (e.g., Metro Turizm, Kamil Koç) and regional minibuses (dolmuş) connect Kaş with Antalya, Fethiye and other coastal towns. From Antalya Otogar expect a 3.5-4.5 hour coach ride to Kaş; from Fethiye it is considerably shorter (~1-2 hours). Fares are typically in the tens to low hundreds of TRY depending on distance and operator.
How to Get Around Kaş#
Kaş is best navigated by dolmuş and taxi within the district; for arrivals from airports use intercity coaches or pre-booked transfers. Renting a car gives maximum freedom for day trips along the coast.
- Dolmuş / Minibus (15-40 TRY) - Local shared minibuses (dolmuş) are the most economical and practical way to move between Kaş and nearby villages or beaches. They run frequently on main corridors and are cheap, but they operate on a flexible schedule and can be crowded in peak season.
- Intercity bus / Coach (60-220 TRY) - Longer transfers from Antalya or Dalaman are typically by coach (Metro, Kamil Koç and other operators). Coaches are comfortable and inexpensive relative to private transfers; travel times depend on route and traffic, expect multiple hours from major airports.
- Taxi / Private transfer (300-1200 TRY (airport → Kaş)) - Taxis and pre-booked private transfers are convenient for door-to-door travel and useful if you arrive late or in a group. They are faster but significantly more expensive than dolmuş.
- Car rental (€30-70/day) - Renting a car is the best option if you want to explore the coast and hinterland at your own pace. Roads are generally in good condition, but parking in peak summer can be limited in town. A 4x4 is not necessary for standard coastal roads.
- Boat / Day-boat (60-300 TRY (day trips)) - Local boat trips are a common way to access nearby coves and islands; these are short excursions rather than practical transport between towns. Book through local operators in Kaş harbour.
- Walking - Kaş town centre is compact and very walkable; most hotels, restaurants and dive shops are within short walking distance of the harbour.
