Karlsaue is a historic public park in Kassel, Hesse, Germany, combining formal baroque elements and landscaped parkland along the Fulda River. It contains the prominent baroque Orangerie building as its focal point.

Visitors encounter wide lawns, formal garden layouts, tree avenues and waterside paths that are used for walking, seasonal events and passive recreation. The baroque Orangerie anchors the park and is a frequent destination for cultural visitors and photographers.

The park and its Orangerie date to the early 18th century when landscape and leisure spaces were laid out for the Kassel court; the grounds have since been adapted for public use while retaining historic garden structures.

Karlsaue occupies an island-like area formed by branches of the Fulda River within the city of Kassel in Hesse, easily reached from the city centre and located along the Fulda’s urban corridor.

Karlsaue is a large park in central Kassel beside the Fulda River. It is within easy walking distance of the city centre - from Kassel Hauptbahnhof expect about a 15-25 minute walk (around 1-2 km) to reach the main park entrances; local trams and buses also stop near central points adjacent to the park.

If driving in from a major city, Kassel is approximately 200 km north of Frankfurt; follow the A7/A49 toward Kassel and then follow signs to the city centre and Karlsaue.

• Enter Karlsaue park via the Orangerie to access the main formal gardens, sculptures and historical sightlines; mornings on weekdays are noticeably quieter.
• Follow the water-axis and canals through the park rather than sticking to the central lawns-the island features, baroque layouts and smaller sculpture groupings are often missed by casual visitors.
• Expect higher visitor numbers during documenta years and on weekends; use the park's side paths along the Fulda canals to find quieter spots and more intimate views.
