How to Get to Karatau Mountains #

The Karatau Mountains are reached by road from the larger regional centres such as Shymkent or Turkistan. From those cities you travel by regional highways and local roads toward towns on the foothills, then continue on smaller paved or gravel roads to trailheads; local minibuses (marshrutkas) and taxis serve the nearest towns. Once at a village or trailhead you proceed on foot to get into the foothills.
