Kaloža Church

The Kaloža Church (Church of Saints Boris and Gleb) in Grodno is a medieval stone church and one of the oldest surviving ecclesiastical buildings in what is now Belarus. It stands close to the historic core of Grodno on the Neman River.

The building is valued for its early medieval masonry and compact stone architecture; surviving interior fragments and decorative details have attracted scholarly and public interest. It forms part of a cluster of historic monuments in Grodno’s old town.

Constructed in the medieval period, the church has survived through phases of repair and partial reconstruction and has been preserved as an important example of early East Slavic ecclesiastical architecture. It has been the subject of conservation efforts to protect its surviving fabric.

The church sits in Grodno (Hrodna), on the left bank of the Neman River in western Belarus, close to the Old Castle and other elements of the city’s medieval centre.
