Jyderup is a compact Danish market town on Zealand, Denmark’s largest island. It grew up around a medieval church and keeps a traditional small-town core, with the Jyderup town square and Jyderup Church as easy starting points for a visit.
Beyond town, the main draws are nearby landscapes and Viking-age history. Tissø is a lake on Zealand with an archaeological Viking-age site, while Trelleborg (Slagelse) is a reconstructed Viking ring fortress near Slagelse. For ecclesiastical architecture, the Church of Our Lady, Kalundborg is a 13th-century church in Kalundborg known for its five towers.
Jyderup also works well as a base for island day trips. Sejerø is a small Danish island in the Kattegat sea, and Orø is an island in Isefjord with rural landscapes and beaches. Nekselø, also in Isefjord, offers rural landscapes in a quieter setting.
