How to Get to Juchitán de Zaragoza
Juchitán de Zaragoza is most easily reached by road from regional airports such as Huatulco (HUX) or by long-distance bus lines that connect the Isthmus towns. The town is a hub for buses and collectivos across the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.
Bahías de Huatulco International Airport (HUX): Huatulco is a common gateway for the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. By road Huatulco to Juchitán is roughly 70-90 km depending on route and takes about 1.5-2 hours by car or shuttle. Shared shuttles and private taxis operate this corridor; prices for shuttles typically range from about 200-400 MXN per person depending on operator and season.
Oaxaca International Airport (OAX): Oaxaca City is farther away (about 250-300 km) and is used by travellers combining Oaxaca state tourism. Travel by road from Oaxaca to Juchitán takes 4-5 hours by bus or car; intercity buses (ADO/other carriers) run this route and fares vary by company and service level.
Train: There is no passenger rail service to Juchitán; Mexico’s passenger rail network on this axis is not in regular operation.
